International Collaboration on Gonococci (ICG) Workshop in conjunction with the 17^th Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research (ISSTDR), Seattle, Washington, USA.

Attendance:
Drs. Magnus Unemo and Jo-Anne R. Dillon chaired this ICG workshop on behalf of Dr. John Tapsall. Approximately 60 people from various countries attended the workshop.

Topics:
The workshop program can be found in the Program of the 17^th ISSTDR 2007 (www.isstdr.org). The topics of this workshop covered the antimicrobial susceptibility surveillance and quality control programs for antimicrobial susceptibility testing, molecular typing and molecular laboratory diagnostics. Speakers came from China, Canada, Sweden, UK and USA to present their work. Discussions after presentations included the need to develop guidelines for appropriate selection of typing methods and the challenges of antimicrobial susceptibility testing in the era of NAAT diagnostics.
